Blog Roadmap

Posts to finish

  • VkRe devlog
  • Unnamed driller game project
  • “Short blog post” section
    • Maybe? Do I really want to litter this place with even more random stuff?

Blog structure

  • Integrate the Pico-8 gallery into the blog.
  • Investigate into learning how to twist Hugo into creating non-blog sections
  • Cleanup the devlog/project section
  • Off-column aside system?
    • Something is in the works but I have no use for that for now.
  • Delete old drafts
    • There are at least one or two that could be left as is and presented as old experiments. A sort of recycle bin but for my posts.
  • Dark/light theme based on system’s settings
    • Just a matter of switching to CSS variables and changing them based on media queries.
  • Redo the dynamic section?
    • The dynamic section was an idea inspired by Red Blob Games where I’d have blog posts with Javascript (*gasp!*) to make figures and illustrations interactive. There are remnants of that in an unlisted section of the site but I never got to finish something.
  • Separate the old french blog
    • Maybe? They already are in their own section. This would probably cause less confusion and allow me to do other stuff like theming like the v3 and adding some disclaimer as I’m mostly disengaged from their content.
  • Connect to a knowledge base?
    • Not really? I am intrigued by the concept of softwares such as org-mode, TiddlyWiki or Logseq, but I don’t have the discipline to note down everything but the kitchen sink and every time I just feel like doing stuff wrong.

Cancelled or eternal drafts

Well, some of the things here could be redone or given a dusting if people are interested. Hit me up on the Fediverse (look at the footer) if you’re really interested.

  • ███████████ game review (that one with two parts)
    • Spilling the beans, it was a review about Pizza Tower. That game got me good and I wanted to lay down what I liked about the game but time went on and the soufflé deflated. I have just vague opinions and not really a strong writing direction for it. Also honestly, the fandom ended up having “those” vibes (not the horny-on-pizza ones (I think?), but the other ones, you know which ones I’m talking about, right?)
    • Ok, the review had a cute idea: a two parter, mimmicking the game’s Lap 2 where I split a plain review and my feelings aobut the game in two different sections.
  • A post-like object where I lay down my thoughts about making some sort of taxonomy for game genres and their evolution like for the living reigns?
    • I’m not even sure where I was going, it started as a hot take after discussing on the Fediverse but I completely lost the plot of what I was thinking about.
    • The worst? I used Pokémon as a example where while it became the poster child mon catching games, it started closer to a JRPG, with dungeons (Silph co., Caves, etc…) and other bits.
    • This could be kept in the “recycle bin” folder I was thinking of.
  • A review of Loop Hero
    • Another game I feel in love with. Well, its soundtrack at least. I never finished the game but I absolutely love the feeling of the game, graphics, music, concept. But the draft gathered dust as I moved away from the game.
  • A post about… storing textures as JPG.
    • A hot take as I kept seeing a certain texture repository offering JPG among all the available formats for every map, from albedo to normal.
  • A post about input?
    • I think I was trying to have a clear “framework” about everything related to inputs.
